Fatal Motorcycle Crash
A 24-year-old Woodhaven man was killed in a motorcycle in Richmond Hill on March 1, police said.
Around 5:38 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist on Park Lane South at Myrtle Avenue. Upon arrival, police observed Daniel O’Malley, who lived on 89th Avenue, lying on the roadway.
EMS transported O’Malley to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that O’Malley was driving his 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on Park Lane South at the Myrtle Avenue intersection, when he lost control and entered the northbound lanes and struck a 2004 Mercedes SUV, which was being driven by a 22-year-old man.
The motorcycle mounted the sidewalk and dislodged O’Malley. The driver of the Mercedes Benz was not injured and remained on the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
