A 24-year-old Richmond Hill man has been convicted of rape and other charges after he forced himself onto a 14-year-old girl in February 2016. The victim had become entangled with the defendant when her 18-year-old friend, who owed the defendant money, threatened to post a nude video of the girl on the internet if she did not have sex with the defendant, the Queens district attorney said.
Albert Premnauth, who lives on Jamaica Avenue, was found guilty by a jury on June 8 of second-degree rape, criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a child. Acting Supreme Court Justice Peter Vallone Jr. set July 18 for sentencing. Premnauth could face up to seven years in prison and will be required to register as a sex offender.
In early 2016, the victim sent a nude video of herself to a 14-year-old female friend as a joke. That friend then shared the video with an 18-year-old man, who owed Premnauth money for marijuana.
The victim was then coerced into having sex with Premnauth, who threatened to post the nude video posted on the internet. The girl told Premnauth that she was only 14 years old and begged him to give her time to pay the money owed by the other man. But the defendant refused, forcing the girl to have sex with him. He then paid her $100 in cash and gave her a pair of Beats by Dre headphones, both of which were turned over to the 18-year-old, who sold them to pay back Premnauth, Queens DA Richard Brown said.
