A 21-year-old Jamaica man died several days after being shot in South Jamaica on Aug. 18, police said.
Just before 9:30 p.m., police responded to a shot spotter notification at 104-46 164th St. in Jamaica. Upon investigation, police discovered that Terrence Payne, who lived on Bedell Street, had been shot in the thigh. He was transported by private means to Jamaica Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, but died three days later.
No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing. The city’s medical examiner deemed the incident a homicide shortly after Payne’s death.
Police said that they are searching for an individual who is wanted in connection to a grand larceny at a Jamaica subway station.
Just before 7 a.m. on Aug. 6, a 50-year-old man was waiting on the J train’s platform at the subway station at Sutphin Boulevard and Archer Avenue when an unidentified man approached him and removed his cell phone from his hand before fleeing in an unknown direction.
The suspect is described as a black man with a slim build who is believed to be in his late teens or early 20s. He was last seen wearing a red jacket, white tank top, red pants and white sneakers.
