An 18-year-old man from Springfield Gardens was killed in a motor vehicle crash on Nov. 18 in Ozone Park, police said.
Just after 10 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a collision at Sutter Avenue and 80th Street. Upon arrival, police observed a crash involving two vehicles. Xylique Lovelace-Loney, who lives on 182nd Street, was found in a four-door sedan with severe trauma about his body. He was removed by EMS to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The 21-year-old operator of the second vehicle, an SUV, sustained only minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene. A preliminary investigation determined that Lovelace-Loney’s vehicle was traveling eastbound on Sutter Avenue, while the SUV was traveling northbound on 80th Street when both vehicles collided in the intersection.
Lovelace-Loney’s vehicle then proceeded to collide with two unoccupied parked cars at the location. The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the crash.
