FATAL CRASH ARREST
On Friday, February 20 at 7:53 a.m, police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Main Street in Flushing. EMS responded to the location and transported Jao-Lin Zhu, 80, to New York Hospital Queens, with severe head trauma where she was pronounced dead the next day. An investigation revealed Zhu was crossing Main Street from west to east in the north side crosswalk at Maple Avenue, when she was struck by a 2013 Ford van which was traveling eastbound on Maple Avenue and made a left turn heading northbound onto Main Street. The driver of the van, Ana Urena, 37, of Forest Hills was placed under arrest and charged with failure to yield right of way and failure to exercise due care to a pedestrian.
