Expect A Fantastic Finish

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 2:9—”as it is written: What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived— the things God has prepared for those who love him.”

Throughout my walk with God, He has continued to amaze me in every part of my life. In Paul’s first letter to the church in Corinth, he explains the wisdom we gain from God through the Spirit and the unthinkable blessings that God bestows upon those who love him.

Five years ago, I walked into a church that had no choir, no musicians, no functioning ministries. This could have been one of the most discouraging moments in my life as a minister if didn’t lean on the promises of God. In quoting Isaiah 64:4, Paul reminds the church that “no mind has conceived” the things of God. He’s conveying to the Corinthians that secular wisdom does not have insight into the mind of God. If I would have leaned on my own understanding and internalized only the things I see, heard or felt from my own wisdom, I would only have seen the challenges I was faced with at that time to rebuild this church, rather than the opportunities God has set before me.

I recall—even back then—that I declared better days were ahead. I never once thought about defeat or that my challenges would consume my belief that I would experience a fantastic finish. Actually, the more I spoke about good things, the more supernatural blessings arrived. I became amazed on a daily basis as I watched God orchestrate my victories like a game of chess. Each move, God removed a problem, challenge and issue from in front of me, so that I could continue to move forward. This is exactly what God wants to do in your life as well. He wants to direct you in this game called life. By trusting in His plan and loving His ways, you are guaranteed to experience a fantastic finish.

When we are consumed with our own wisdom or the secular wisdom of which Paul is speaking, then our overcoming problems and victorious beliefs are limited to what we can only think is possible. But when you are faced with challenges and you don’t see a way out, but you know God will make a way out, you are now tapping into the fantastic finish of faith. Everyone wants to have the best, but in order to receive the best, then you must give your best. Your spiritual best is not just believing in yourself and what you’re able to do, but rather believing in God and knowing that all things are possible through God—and that you can do all things through the power of God.

As believers in Christ, God bestows His wisdom upon us through His Spirit, so that we might know His truth. Faced with many challenges as a new minister with only a hand full of members, no music ministry, no ministerial assistance and a laundry list of property issues, my understanding was that only God could get me through. You may possibly be in that same position I was once in at that particular time in my life—faced with a project and not having enough resources to complete it. I would like to encourage you to command your situation to surrender to your power—the power that God has given you through His Spirit as a result of your love toward Him.

When you show your love toward God, God will show his unfailing love toward you. God does not want you to fail. Expecting God to give you a fantastic finish in every unknown situation is showing God that you have all faith in that He has planned for your life, even when you can’t see it. Children trust their parents to provide for them and make good decisions on their behalf since they are naturally submissive to those who have cared for them in the past. If you take a moment to think about your past you will see that God has done more for you than you could even imagine. Therefore, if He has provided for you in the past, expect that His provisions for the future will only come in greater increments.

I can testify that situations that I’ve walked into were downright disgraceful—but with God’s help, it became a fantastic finish. God wants you to be faithful, consistent and relentless in working toward your dreams and He will make sure that your future sees a fantastic finish. God said that if you love Him, your future will be so fantastic that your eyes haven’t seen, nor have your ears heard, nor can you even fully imagine what He’s going to do for you. Aren’t you excited that the love you have for God is the key that opens up all the hidden treasures for which you have been waiting?
