Guide To Dining Out On Thanksgiving


While some look to Thanksgiving as a time to kick back with the family and enjoy a nice home cooked meal over the long weekend, others rely on good eats from popular Queens staples.

Below, find a list of several Queens restaurants that will remain open on Thanksgiving and offer holiday specials or menus.

Thomasina’s Catering Hall
The legendary Thomasina’s Catering Hall, located at 205-35 Linden Blvd. in St. Albans, will offer some good old fashioned, home-style cooking for the holidays and entertainment. On Thanksgiving, the catering hall is hosting

Debbie Knapper and the Knappertime Band, while serving some delicious soul food. The menu will include glazed ham, turkey, stuffing, fried chicken, mac and cheese, collard greens, candied yams, potatoes, cornbread and a few extra surprises.

The soul inspired plate and show will cost visitors $27. The show will run from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.


Ben’s Best
One of Queens’ premiere kosher deli is offering a specially-priced menu for Thanksgiving. Ben’s Best, located at 96-40 Queens Blvd. in Rego Park, will offer a three-course dinner, complete with appetizers and desserts for all who stop by on Thanksgiving.

Patrons will have a choice of chopped liver or stuffed cabbage for appetizers and options of garden veggie and mushroom barley for soup. For their main course, the deli will offer two vegetables, candied sweet potatoes and string bean almondine, a 15-pound roasted turkey with mushroom stuffing, gravy and a cranberry-pineapple compost. For dessert, Ben’s Best will offer customers a choice between fruit salad or a batch of its famous chocolate and raisin rugelach.

The complete spread will cost $265.95 and feeds up to 12 people. For half the price, visitors can get half of the portions for $172.95. Call (718) 897-1700 for more information. Reservations are recommended.

Georgia Diner
The famous Georgia Diner in Elmhurst will offer visitors a wide selection on Turkey Day. Options will include a $28.95 plate with all the traditional fixings one would expect this time of year, such as roast turkey, stuffing, potato and assorted vegetables, soup and/or salad, a variety of drinks, dried fruit and nut trays and bread baskets from which to choose.

Douglaston Manor
In northeast Queens, the Douglaston Manor will offer visitors a complete Thanksgiving feast that will include roast prime rib, smoked country ham and a hot buffet featuring slow roasted turkey, herb roasted pork, baked filet of sole, smashed sweet potatoes, herb roasted butternut squash and tortellini panna. It will also serve an array of sweets, pies, cakes, pastries and fruits.
