People of Southeast Queens December 18th 2015

Major General Patrick A. Murphy, the Adjutant General, announces the recent reenlistment of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their continuing commitment to serve community, state and nation as part of the Army National Guard.

Sergeant Lotoya Harris from Jamaica has reenlisted to continue service with the 133rd Quartermaster Support Company. Specialist Melanie Rodriguez from Queens Village has reenlisted to continue service with the 442nd Military Police Company. Staff Sergeant Jermaine Hope from Queens Village has reenlisted to continue service with the 719th Transportation Company. Staff Sergeant Francisco Madrid from Queens Village has reenlisted to continue service with the 719th Transportation Company. Sergeant First Class Neftali Perez from Arverne has reenlisted to continue service with the Battery B, 1-258th Field Artillery. Specialist Willie Flud from Far Rockaway has reenlisted to continue service with the Company G (Forward Support Company Field Artillery), 427th Brigade Support Battalion. Specialist Alex Chiqui from Queens Village has reenlisted to continue service with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3-142nd Aviation.

U.S. Army Pvt. Nohman Azam has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
Azam is the son of Mohammad Anwar of Marlton, N.J., and brother of Waheed Alam of Jamaica.
He graduated in 2004 from Burlington County Institute Of Technology, Pemberton, N.J.

Shivanand Supersad from Richmond Hill, and serving with the 719th Transportation Company is promoted to the rank of Sergeant; Zion Sotomayor from South Ozone Park, and serving with the Company F (Forward Support Company Infantry), 427th Brigade Support Battalion is promoted to the rank of Private First Class and Wilson Ramos from Richmond Hill, and serving with the Company C, 1-69th Infantry is promoted to the rank of Private First Class.
