Several Southeast Queens military personnel have reenlisted to the National Guard, including Springfield Gardens’ Sergeant Antaun Leary (who will continue service with the 222nd Chemical Company), Far Rockaway’s Specialist Salvatore Gallina (who will continue service with the 442nd Military Police Company), Hollis’ Specialist Catrina Toole (who will continue service with the 4th Finance Detachment), Jamaica’s Sergeant Corey Hines (who will continue service with the 7th Finance Detachment) and Staff Sergeant Jimel Fraser (who will continue service with the Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 1-258th Field Artillery) and Laurelton’s Staff Sergeant Jonell Gittens (who will continue service with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 369th Sustainment Brigade).
Jamaica’s Colby Christina has been named as a co-chairwoman for the 2017 National Black Theatre Festival, which will be held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina from July 31 to Aug. 5. The other co-chairs of the event are Anna Marie Horsford and Obba Babatunde.
Christina is an actress, TV talk show host on “Colby’s Corner,” dancer, singer, model, choreographer and motivational speaker. She was recently honored as an “ambassador of change” by the PRESS of Southeast Queens during the paper’s annual Black History Month awards ceremony.
