Laurelton’s Cheyenne Morgan has been admitted to Cornell College, located in Mount Vernon, Iowa, for the fall 2017 semester.
Two Queens students—Hollis’ Annakay Franklin and Far Rockaway’s Shalynn Chancy—have been accepted for admission to Delaware Valley University for the fall 2017 semester.
Breezy Point’s Jaclyn Smith spent her spring break volunteering in Baltimore during an Assumption College SEND trip. Once there, Smith and other students spent the week rehabbing houses in West Baltimore neighborhoods with Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake.
Students also had the opportunity to serve at the Catholic Charities organization, Jenkins Community Center, which is the state’s first senior community to offer options to low and moderate income individuals for independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing care, rehabilitation and medical day care. The students also visited cultural institutions in Baltimore.
Jamaica’s Kamron Johnson, a sophomore on the Golden Knights men’s basketball team at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll for outstanding academic achievement. Students placed on the list earn anywhere between a 3.5 and 4.0 grade point average.

Queens Boulevard looking east from 57th Avenue was a sleepy two lane road about 1910 when this picture was taken. The Queens Mall is to the right but, amazingly, several buildings in the middle left distance are still there.
