Casey Simpson, a singer and Nickelodeon star with more than 10 million social media followers; and DJ MO Bounce, of Z100 and Nick Radio, will be the hosts of this year’s third annual Queens Youth Music Festival (QYMFest), which takes place at St. John’s University on June 9 from noon to 5 p.m.

Sawyer Fredericks, the winner of the 2015 season of The Voice, and Lil’ Key, the star of The Rap Game, will be among the show’s headliners. Local Queens talent who will be featured at the event include the Elite Marching Band, Julie Winter, Jay Beezy, the Merrick Academy Steppers and 11-year-old DJ Alden.

In addition to the concert, which is the festival’s main event, there will be a variety of food, networking opportunities and activities geared toward children of all ages. Long Island City’s Guitar Center, a sponsor of QYMFest 2018, will offer drumming instruction to attendees.

“This is our largest and most ambitious event yet,” said Aleeia Abraham, the founder and director of QYMFest.

Abraham’s multidimensional company, Prototype Music, started QYMFest in Southeast Queens in 2016. With this year’s move to a more central location at St. John’s University, Abraham said, QYMFest 2018 is expanding its focus to the entire borough.

This is the second year that Prototype Music will partner with the organizers at Social Movement—formerly Muser Movement—to bring an eclectic array of musical genres and social media influencers to the June 9 event. QYMFest is an extension of Prototype Music’s mission to discover, develop, showcase and mentor talented young people from Queens.

General admission tickets to QYMFest 2018 are $25, although guests will have the option of purchasing VIP tickets, which will allow them admission and time to hang out with the headliners, for $60. Parents have the option of purchasing VIP tickets for $40, which gives them access to a private parent tent at the venue.
