Led by world-renowned surgical oncologist Dr. Margaret Kemeny, the team at the Queens Cancer Center is comprised of some of the country’s most accomplished oncologists, who deliver the latest advances in cancer diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation services to its cancer patients.
Since 2002, the Queens Cancer Center has consistently offered the latest technology to help diagnose and treat cancer in a timely and efficient manner. The center’s chemotherapy service offers the most advanced chemotherapy drugs to its patients with no barriers to equity in services and a wide variety of diagnostic and treatment services, including chemotherapy, surgical oncology, radiation therapy, pain management and palliative care, social work services and clinical research protocols.
“Our hospital’s cancer center prides itself on catering to the unique needs of each patient,” said Dr. Kemeny.
“Care is coordinated through multidisciplinary teams of medical, surgical and radiation oncologists, oncology pharmacists, patient navigation services and other specialized professionals in a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility.”
The physical design of the Queens Cancer Center makes it easy for patients to receive care in an aesthetically pleasing environment that is bright, airy and soothing. Also known for its cutting edge technology, NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens is the first hospital in the county of Queens to have a PET/CT scanner that provides a higher level of accuracy in disease diagnoses, staging and treatment planning.
“Our hospital is proud to have some of the best doctors in the country,” said Chris Roker, the chief executive officer of NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens. “Dr. Kemeny is a pioneer in her field and is widely regarded as one of the leading surgeons in the metropolitan area.”
After completing her undergraduate studies at Harvard University, where she graduated cum laude, Dr. Kemeny attended Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She was the first woman since World War II to become a surgical resident at Columbia and one of a handful of women in the United States serving as a surgical oncologist.
